Sergio Martinez

    Treatment Issues: Sergio provides counseling to individuals and couples and specializes in relationship issues, victims of trauma, spiritual integration, singleness, parenting, and mood disorders.

    Education & Training: Sergio has sixteen years of experience in various mental health settings, including, private practices, agencies, and churches.  Sergio believes faith and spirituality can be a crucial piece of the therapeutic process when a client is open to the concept.  Recently, Sergio has been appointed as interim pastor and provides pastoral care for members of his local church.

    Background and Experience: Sergio received his Bachelor of Social Work from St. Augustine College in 2005 and his Master of Social Work from Loyola University in 2011. He is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor in Illinois since 2004 and a Licensed Social Worker since December 2020.

    Additional Info: Sergio is a firm believer that growth is possible when people are equipped with the right tools to help them overcome obstacles in life. Sergio is passionate about working with individuals and families by helping them to identify what they want to achieve on an emotional level.  He utilizes Psychodynamic, Attachment and Cognitive Behavioral theories to empower individuals to confront and process the trauma they have experienced, and to assist them in discovering their full potential.  Sergio believes that people can thrive when faulty thinking and beliefs about one’s self are eliminated and replaced with increased self- awareness and positive self-talk.
