    Education & Training:  Kathie has her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology (2021) from The Seattle School, is trained in EMDR, is a Certified Grief Educator (David Kessler Training), is Certified in Traumatic Stress Studies through the Trauma Research Foundation, and a is Prepare/Enrich Facilitator. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work (1987) from Seattle Pacific University.

    Background and Experience:  Kathie has been with Meier Clinics since 2020. Previously, she worked in big business, with non-profits, and within the church. She traveled to Mexico, Cambodia, and China engaging the needs of children, the marginalized, and the displaced. For over 20 years, she worked extensively with women and youth as a teacher and mentor. She delights in engaging individuals in their healing journey through a person-centered and narrative approach, including strengths from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

    Special Interests & Services:  Kathie’s professional interests include issues of anxiety, depression, grief, transitions, and healing from shame-based wounds. She engages clients in understanding their past to heal in the present and move with hope into the future. This requires curiosity about oneself to move beyond feelings of powerlessness and hopelessness. Kathie also enjoys working with young adults who are struggling to define themselves and their relationships.

    Additional Info:  For several years, Kathie worked with the homeless in Seattle through the Union Gospel Mission. Within the intercultural community, she taught English overseas in China and Cambodia and directed language acquisition work with Westminster Language Academy. Through her work, she is active in listening, learning, and affecting change for the vulnerable and marginalized populations within our community. In recent years, she has worked with local organizations to help empower youth in the Extended Foster Care system. Kathie offers a sliding scale for clients who meet Meier Clinic’s financial criteria.
