Education & Training: Karen received her Master's degree from Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL and is currently licensed in Illinois as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. She is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder, which she utilizes with clients when appropriate. Karen is Phase I, II, and III Brainspotting trained and also certified in Accelerated Resloution Therapy for rapid treatment of trauma. Karen has been the keynote speaker at many seminars and conferences. Additionally, she has been on the radio and TV, and has written many articles.
Background and Experience: Karen works with adolescents and adults in individual and family therapy specializing in depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse, and marital concerns. She joined Meier Clinics in 1990 and has over 20 years of experience, which includes working with crisis adolescents in a hospital setting as well as adults in a Day Hospital. Karen most enjoys marital counseling and helping people resolve traumas in their life. She specializes in helping couples rebuild their love and avoid divorce.
Special Interests & Services: Karen describes her therapy style as cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, spiritual, and eclectic. She feels honored to integrate scripture and prayer into her counseling and looks to the Bible for guidance and healing. Her goals for the client are for them to rely on biblical guidance for healing, and to help them deepen their faith and trust in God as the healer. Karen loves using her talents to lead others to trust God for healing and believes that deep healing can be obtained.
