Education and Training: Patrick received his Master of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling from Trinity International University (Deerfield Illinois) in 2018. Other education: Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education (1977) from The Ohio State University, a Master of Arts degree in Special Education (1980) from Michigan State University, and a Master of Arts in Education degree in Public Policy Analysis and Evaluation Research (1988) from The University of Illinois at Chicago. He became a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois in 2019.

Background and Experience: Patrick completed his internship experience at a community counseling agency working with individuals, couples, and families. He also served in the counseling center at Trinity International University for his semester practicum experience. Prior to entering the field of mental health counseling, Patrick worked in various regular and special education positions (teaching, administration, consulting) in public education, grades K-12, for 30+ years. He also served for four years, part-time as the director of congregational support and care at a local church. He currently serves as the volunteer coordinator and co-facilitator of mental health support groups at this same church.

Special Interests & Services: Patrick works with clients 13 years and older. He draws from a variety of counseling approaches including cognitive behavioral (CBT), solution-focused (SF), acceptance and commitment (ACT), and strength-based and narrative therapies. Patrick provides an empathic, encouraging, and highly collaborative space in order to help his clients achieve their goals for counseling and he enjoys working with individuals, couples, and families.

Additional Information: Insurance accepted: Aetna and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Patrick also offers reduced fees to clients who meet the financial guidelines. Patrick has experience teaching undergraduate students majoring in special education, presenting workshops, and leading short-term mission trips. He enjoys spending time with his family and is actively involved with his local church. His personal hobbies and interests include biking/hiking, learning to play the guitar, photography, model railroading, hearing live music, and volunteering with the American Red Cross in the areas of disaster mental health and general disaster assistance in the Chicago area.
