Background and Experience: Kara has worked alongside the church for 14+ years, seeking to create dignity-affirming strategies to care for people struggling with poverty, homelessness, and at-risk youth. She has trained and coached diverse individuals and groups pursuing the integration of faith and meaningful living, emphasizing mercy and justice through work, church, and relationships. Over the years, Kara has mentored young adult women seeking emotional and spiritual wholeness, fulfilling interpersonal relationships, and navigating vocational or geographical transition

Special Interests and Services: Kara works with adults and couples in any stage of adulthood, with a wide range of needs or desires for your work together. She approaches her collaboration with clients from a relational psychodynamic technique, drawing on attachment theory, Narrative Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy. Kara invites engagement with your stories of profound heartache as we join together in discovering the terrain of your heart – inviting awareness, kindness, and imagination. Kara has witnessed others’ healing through faithful and trustworthy relationship, as well as her own, believing that the wounds caused in relationship are tended to over time in the presence of a trustworthy other.

Additional Information: As a previous missionary working among pastors, educators and social workers, Kara is familiar with the pressures and cost for those serving in helping professions and is committed to excellent professional care for such individuals. I provide coaching for individuals in large or small missionary organizations (i.e. sabbatical coaching, cross-cultural transitions, church partnership, vocational coaching).
