Melissa Henderson - LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor Melissa Henderson

A professional counselor since 2007, Melissa joined Meier Clinics in 2017.  She has a holistic approach towards the healing and restoration process and uses multiple therapy frameworks to personalize the treatment and address the individual, family, or couple’s needs.  Family systems counseling, integrated (eclectic) therapy, and play therapy techniques may be used within the counseling session.  Melissa also believes in the power of prayer and scripture and will incorporate these biblical principles depending upon the individual’s comfort level.

Melissa has experience working in the following treatment areas:  Child Challenges, Teenage Struggles, Women Issues, Couples Work, Self-Esteem, Depression, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Behavior Difficulties, Anxiety, Adjustment Challenges, Grief and Loss, Life Transitions, and All Aspects of Family Life

“I find it a privilege to become a part of people’s lives, to hear their stories, and learn the roots of their pain. Whether I am working with a child, teenager, an adult, a couple, or parents, it is about relationship building.  As we build a trusting therapeutic relationship, I would like us to work together to identify ways to bring forth your heart healing and change.“

Before coming to Meier Clinics, Melissa worked with children, teens, families, and adults within the home, school, and outpatient therapy settings. These individuals were from different ethnic, social, economic, and cultural backgrounds.  When working with children, age-appropriate activities are implemented such as games, arts and crafts, books, and other child-friendly interventions.  Parent/caregiver involvement is highly encouraged, for they add value and support to their young one’s treatment.

Melissa has a Master’s degree in Clinical and Counseling Psychology specializing in Child and & Adolescent Therapy.  She is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the states of Pennsylvania and Texas.

For pleasure, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family, making them a priority second to God. She also has fun getting together with friends, attending bible study, serving within the community, and traveling.
