Susan M. Carey, PhD

Background and Experience: Dr. Carey taught pre-school through twelfth grade, including special education and gifted studies, for fourteen years. She gained clinical and neurological experience working at the Brain Injury Unit of the University of Washington Hospital and at the Neurology Department at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. She currently works as a school psychologist for Seattle Public Schools, Washington.

Additional Information: Dr. Carey was on the committee which developed the ethics manual for school psychologists in the State of Washington for the Washington Association of School Psychologists. She wrote chapters for a book on physical, emotional and spiritual healing, and introductions to chapters on cross cultural communication for Dr. Charles Kraft at Fuller Seminary. She also wrote a Divorce Recovery Coloring Book.

Daniel D. Hartman, PsyD

Background and Experience: Dr. Hartman has developed inpatient, outpatient, and day hospital programs. He has been a licensed psychologist since 1987 and has trained and supervised therapists since 1989. Dr. Hartman began practice with the Cloud-Townsend Clinic in 1986 in California, moving to Seattle in 1991 and developing a clinic for Cloud-Townsend prior to joining the Meier Clinics.
Special Interests and Services: Dr. Hartman currently manages the Meier Clinics Intensive Day Program, an outpatient practice, and supervises and trains therapists. He enjoys working with clients dealing with the full spectrum of anxiety and depressive disorders as he sees these woven through the difficulties and stresses of life. Dr. Hartman enjoys the challenge of difficult diagnostic clarification and complex cases. His training in Psychology and Theology and integrating spirituality and relationship are deep passions of his. He works with individuals, couples, families and adolescents.
Additional Information: Dr. Harman has been married since the early 80's, has four adult children, and is invested in learning, growing and maturing. He is the oldest son of a Free Methodist pastor and has worked with churches, pastors, and church leadership over the years.
Jeffrey Stover, MS, LMHC, PhD

Background and Experience: Dr. Stover joined Meier Clinic in 1999 in the outpatient Clinic and in 2001 began working in the Day Program. He counsels with adults and couples in the Bothell Outpatient Clinic.

Daniel Brown, BS

Special Interests and Services: Daniel enjoys working with children, adolescents and adults. He approaches counseling from a psychodynamic perspective and believes healing occurs primarily in relationships.
Additional Information: Daniel currently works as a youth director at a Presbyterian church in Seattle. He has also worked for four years as the Director of Youth Programs at Camp Carl in Ohio.
Carol M. Christensen, MA, LMHC

Background and Experience: Carol gained mental health experience working at three inpatient hospital facilities. She served for ten years as the Executive Director of a national youth organization and spearheaded a team of professionals who formed a national campaign addressing substance abuse, suicide prevention, and sexual issues in schools and colleges across the U.S. Carol served as adjunct professor of counseling where she developed courses on sexual issues and other topics taught in colleges, conferences, and churches both locally and in Southeast Asia. She has over 20 years of Christian ministry experience.
Special Interests and Services: Carol's goal in treating a wide variety of mental health issues is to provide tools for healing broken hearts. She specializes in various types of Anxiety Disorders including, panic, generalized anxiety disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. She treats many types of addiction (sexual, romance, substance and codependency) and their impact in destroying individuals, singles, teens, couples and family relationships. Carol enjoys working with individuals, singles, couples and families struggling with loneliness, anxiety, addictions, grief, and trauma, where these issues have the potential of disintegrating the family and destroying personal faith. She worked with Developmental Disabilities, including working with Special Olympics. Jacquelyn works closely with her clients and does everything she can to meet their counseling needs. Background and Experience: Melissa worked at the Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program in Lubbock, TX, leading individual and group therapy for one year. She also practiced at the Texas Tech University Family Therapy Clinic in Lubbock, TX, leading individual, couple and family therapy for two years. Melissa facilitated group therapy for the non-offending parents of sexually abused children at the Children's Advocacy Center in Lubbock, TX, for approximately one year.

She has worked in both big business and small non-profits. Lilla is a student of cultures, having been raised overseas and been in over 30 countries, and integrates her knowledge of cross-cultural issues into her therapy.
Special Interests and Services: Lilla describes her style as developmental, using cognitive/behavioral, gestalt, and various other techniques.
