Tomeka Holloway, M.A.

Christian Therapist Chicago Holloway

Tomeka is a mental health therapist who is excited about working with people in efforts to gain greater overall well-being. She uses both verbal and creative languages in treatment as, often times, painful experiences can be too difficult for words. In addition, the dual languages use both sides of the brain to achieve greater healing. When art is used, it is used expressively and not as a means of creating artwork that is beautiful.

Tomeka describes her therapy style as relational, as she believes deeply in the healing that a safe and secure relationship can provide. She uses a variety of psychotherapeutic approaches which includes attachment based therapy, psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness, and cognitive behavioral techniques to meet the needs of the individual client.

Some common treatment concerns include:

Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Complex Trauma, Depression, Nutrition, Parenting, Post-Traumatic Stress, Relationship Issues, Self-Defeating Behavior, and Self-Injury.

I find it to be a blessing to work with people in their darkest hour and have Christ be the lead of our therapeutic relationship. I am humbled by how He has used me and excited to see how He will continue to use me in aiding His people.”

Tomeka earned her Bachelors from Concordia University in Art and Psychology. She then went on to earn her Master’s in Counseling and Art Therapy from the Adler School of Professional Psychology. She is currently completing her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Adler University. Tomeka has worked with children and adolescents in schools across Chicago, providing individual, group therapy, and psychological assessments. She has worked in Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient, and Outpatient settings providing Individual, Group Therapy, and Psychoeducation to adolescents and adults.

Tomeka is a wife and mother of a teenage daughter and pre-teen son. She and her family attend a Southern Baptist Church in the West Suburbs. She is also a professor at Adler University in the Masters of Art Therapy Department.
