Paul Meier, M.D.

Background and Experience:  Dr. Meier taught pastoral counseling at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois in 1975-1976, and at Dallas Theological Seminary (in Texas) from 1976 to 1989.

Keith Cobern, Ph.D., L.M.F.T., L.P.C.

Background and Experience:  Dr. Cobern has worked for Meier Clinics since 1991.

Additional Information:  Dr. Cobern provides supervision for LMFT and LPC interns and is an adjunct Assistant Professor of Counseling at Dallas Baptist University in the Master of Arts in Counseling Program.

 

Mary Damkroger, Ph.D.

Background and Experience:  Dr. Damkroger has worked for Meier Clinics since 1987.

Special Interests and Services:  Includes working with clients struggling with depression and other mood disorders, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, relationship problems, family problems, domestic abuse, effects of childhood physical and sexual abuse, rape, sexual dysfunction, and a variety of other issues.  Dr. Damkroger also conducts psychological testing/assessment (e.g., personality, educational, career, attention deficit diagnosis, premarital, etc.).  She provides premarital/pre-engagement counseling and teaches communication skills.  Dr. Damkroger works with both male and female adults and adolescents.

 

Lane Ogden, Ph.D.

Education and Training:  Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Howard Payne University.  Master of Arts degree and a Doctorate degree in Psychology from Texas Tech.  Dr. Ogden completed a Post–Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychopharmacology at California School of Professional Psychology.  He is a Licensed Psychologist and a member of the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. 

 

Background and Experience:  Dr. Ogden has been a part of the Meier Clinics since 1987.


Special Interests and Services:  Dr. Ogden’s areas of professional interest include adult psychotherapy and psychological assessment as well as behavioral problems related to medication issues.  His major focus is on depression and anxiety disorders as well as any adult psychotherapy issues. 

 

Additional Information:  Dr. Ogden enjoys speaking and teaching engagements.  He is an active member in national, state, and local psychological associations and is an officer in the Dallas Psychological Association.

Marcy Blake, L.P.C.

Background and Experience:  Marcy has lead parenting workshops in the community and lead groups for teens.  She is involved in her church's counseling ministry.


Special Interests and Services: Marcy works with children as young as six, adolescents, and adults.  She treats children and adolescents struggling with anger issues, ADHD, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, behavior problems at home or school, and other school related issues. Richard Meier, M.A., L.P.C., D.Min.

Background and Experience:  Dr. Meier is a two career person.  His first career was as an ordained minister and senior pastor for 23 years.  Since 1985, his second and current career is as a professional counselor.  His experiences have also included founding a Christian School and serving as President of the Mid–American Association of Christian Schools.


Special Interests and Services:  Richard loves to work with pastors who come to the Clinic, often with their wives, for several days of intensive outpatient counseling.

L.P.C. = Licensed Professional Counselor.  The counselor has completed a Master's degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of 1,500 clinical and 1,500 administrative hours experience, and has passed a written examination administered by the State of Texas.  The counselor must show proof of 15 hours per year of continuing education and there may be no unresolved disciplinary action in order to maintain the license that is renewable every two years.  Three hours of the yearly continuing education must be on ethics. 

 

L.M.F.T. = Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.  In addition to the above information regarding L.P.C., the counselor must take two classes on Assessment (testing used in couples and family counseling) and a practicum.  Out of the 1,500 clinical hours, 750 must be couple/family and 750 individual.  These can be accumulated simultaneously with the L.P.C. hours.

 

M.A./M.S./M. Ed. = Master's of Arts, Science, or Education Degree.  This degree is awarded after successful completion of advanced study after a person has earned a Bachelor's degree.  This typically involves an additional two years of full-time class work at an accredited institution and often includes additional clinical experience in the chosen field of specialized study.
